Job Title: Senior Engineering Specialist – High Voltage & Interconnection (full-time)

Key Responsibilities

Lead the execution of design, construction, and commissioning activities and support the development of Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIA) for interconnection processes with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs).

Review and optimize HV/MV substation, collection, transmission line, and equipment specifications, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Conduct or review power system studies (power flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, grounding) ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and company specifications.

Act as the technical interface between internal teams (Power Business Development, Technical Services, Power Operations, Supply Chain Management, Legal, Safety, Land, Environment, Project Support Groups) and external stakeholders (consultants, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, vendors).

Support procurement of HV equipment by developing technical bid packages, optimizing design and equipment selection, reviewing and approving vendor submittals, and providing domain expertise during sourcing.

Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, including office and site-based oversight, quality control, participation in acceptance tests, and leadership during commissioning and integration.

Contribute to project reporting and tracking key achievements for management and partners, proactively identifying and escalating issues as needed.
Qualifications & Experience

University degree in Engineering; registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. in Canada or PE in the US), with preference for Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 8 years, preferably 10–15+ years, of progressively responsible technical and leadership experience.

Direct experience in utility-scale power systems design, integration, and interconnection across North American ISOs.

Broad experience, ideally including both office and field/site work.

Collaborative, value-driven approach, balancing technical, cost, schedule, and lifecycle considerations.

Strong communication skills, capable of leading meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Valid driver’s license (subject to verification via motor vehicle check).
Working Conditions

Primarily office environment with occasional field work.

Travel requirements: 10%, up to 25% during peak periods.
