Overview of the role
Consultants are key team members who play an important role in carrying out research, medical writing, and project management. They work independently, act on anticipated project needs, problem solve, and are excellent communicators. This role demands critical thinking, exceptional attention to detail, an obsession over accuracy, and strong organizational abilities. Depending on expertise, project demands, and career goals, consultants will assume varying levels of responsibility and diverse tasks.
Required knowledge
The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of systematic literature review (SLR) methods, including a solid understanding of SLR guidelines, best practices, and their implementation, and manuscript, conference abstract, and report writing. They should have completed graduate training in research methods, epidemiology, and statistics, with the ability to apply this knowledge to design and execute evidence synthesis studies. The candidate must be a strong writer with a proven ability to qualitatively synthesize and extract insights from a corpus of scientific and medical information. Prior experience in conducting feasibility assessments is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for medical writing, SLR, analysis, and related tasks
  • Take ownership over the accuracy and quality of work
  • Require minimal supervision
  • Write reports and develop slide decks that clearly explain methods, results, and interpretation
  • Work independently and/or as part of a project team  
 
Project management / Client liaison
  • Execute work according to timelines and proactively anticipate and communicate challenges to meeting timelines  
  • Assist with overall project management and client management
  • Attend and present at internal and client meetings
 
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL AND PERSONAL SKILLLS
 
Essential qualifications
  • Masters in epidemiology, biostatistics, pharmacology, or public health (other health sciences ok)
  • 5+ years’ experience of working in evidence synthesis research, with at least 3 of those years in consulting
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
 
 
Desirable experience
  • PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, pharmacology, or public health (other health sciences ok)
