Location: Tucker, GA (100% onsite) with 25–50% travel to project sites
Department: Capital Projects / Power Generation
Reports To: Senior Director of Capital Projects
Job Overview:
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for leading all project controls activities for the development, construction, and startup of new power generation facilities. This role owns cost, schedule, risk, and governance for a portfolio of large-scale capital projects and serves as a critical bridge between project management, finance, contractors, and executive leadership.
This position is highly visible, hands-on, and best suited for someone with power generation or adjacent industrial experience (e.g., utilities, GE, Siemens, EPC environments) who can balance strong leadership with a collaborative, down-to-earth team culture.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive project controls strategies supporting both early-stage development and active construction of new power generation projects.
- Own monthly cost forecasting, accruals, variance analysis, and financial reporting for capital projects.
- Lead schedule development, forecasting, and integration between owner and contractor schedules.
- Establish and manage project governance programs across cost, schedule, risk, and change management.
- Maintain and oversee project risk registers, mitigation plans, and risk management working groups.
- Manage project change control processes and ensure alignment with budget, schedule, and risk impacts.
- Produce and present clear, actionable project controls reporting to OPC leadership and stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison between project teams, finance, corporate risk, contractors, and financing partners.
- Directly manage and oversee a team of 6–12 project controls resources, including internal associates and contracted providers.
- Support major capital initiatives including upcoming Combined Cycle Plant development, with construction activity accelerating into 2026.
- 12+ years of experience in power generation or closely related industrial environments.
- 6+ years in a leadership role focused on project controls, budgeting, financial controls, or risk management for large capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting new-build power plant or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and external contractors in complex project environments.
- Experience with utilities, EPC firms, or OEMs such as GE, Siemens, or similar power/industrial organizations.
- Advanced proficiency in project controls and project management software tools.
- MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Construction Management, or Engineering.
- Experience navigating projects through regulatory and approval-heavy environments.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Team culture is collaborative, tight-knit, and laid back — culture fit is critical.
- Looking for someone comfortable in power or industrial environments who is confident but easy to work with.
- Current incumbent is more financially focused; this role is heavier on true project controls (cost, schedule, risk).
- Large capital build activity expected to ramp significantly in 2026.
