Job Description

Job Title: Technical Program Manager II – Hardware (AR Wearables)
Duration: 12 months
Location: Bay Area, CA (Remote)
 


JOB SUMMARY

Supports a hardware engineering business group at Client focused on developing next-generation AR wearable devices. This role partners closely with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams to drive end-to-end execution of PCB and flexible circuit development, managing schedules, risks, and vendor deliverables in a fast-paced, highly technical environment. The ideal candidate is engineering-focused, proactive, and comfortable working across time zones with APAC suppliers.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own design releases for flexible circuits and multi-layer boards (MLBs) from early design through production.

  • Drive end-to-end PCB fabrication, including schematics, layouts, form development, and vendor approvals.

  • Manage SMT and FATP builds, optimizing for schedule adherence, quality, and yield.

  • Partner with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams to support design for manufacturability (DFM).

  • Track development schedules, gather feedback, identify risks, and proactively drive mitigation plans.

  • Engage directly with APAC contract manufacturers, including flex vendors, to ensure supplier readiness and execution.

  • Communicate status, risks, and timelines clearly to stakeholders; adjust working hours as needed to support APAC collaboration.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred, but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design, PCB development, or related hardware engineering roles.

  • Experience in wearables or consumer electronics strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • PCBAs, flexible circuits, and multi-layer board development

  • SMT and FATP build management

  • Vendor management with APAC manufacturers

  • PCB layout, schematics, and fabrication processes

  • Design for manufacturability (DFM)


PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate risks.

  • Effective communication with engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex schedules simultaneously.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-changing product development environments.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and accountable for deliverables end-to-end.
