Position Title: Histology Associate – RTD (2nd Shift)
Work Location: Tucson, AZ 85755
Assignment Duration: 12 Months
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary
Supports the functions of RTD histology laboratories in the performance of routine histotechniques.
This is an essential position supporting organizational goals requiring attendance on weekends, holidays, and during emergency or exceptional conditions.
Key Responsibilities

Demonstrates foundational histotechniques of embedding, microtomy, coverslipping, processing, and primary staining.

Operates laboratory or manufacturing equipment.

Receives detailed directions on all work and follows standard operating procedures.

Monitors and prepares bulk reagents.

Assists in preparation work for moderately complex techniques under the direction of senior technicians.

Maintains Right to Operate and ensures all processes are performed safely.

Reports safety hazards, incidents, and near misses using safety reporting tools.

Navigates the quality system and escalates issues as needed.

Performs and documents all transactions and production instructions accurately in a regulated environment.

Recognizes minor issues with raw materials, equipment, and lab safety and escalates as needed.

Adheres to 95% or above internal training compliance.

Conducts 6S activities and assists in process improvements.

Participates in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborates cross-functionally to achieve targets.

Provides suggestions to improve work processes and laboratory equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualification & Experience
-
High School Diploma or GED required.
-
1 year of directly related histology experience preferred.

1 year experience with foundational histotechniques including embedding, microtomy, coverslipping, processing, and primary staining.

1 year experience operating laboratory or manufacturing equipment.

Ability to read, analyze, and follow operating procedures.

Knowledge of basic manufacturing and laboratory techniques.

Skilled in word processing and email.

Demonstrated experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement.

Experience with Google products preferred.

Experience with SAP required.

Strong organizational, communication, critical thinking, and time management skills.

Ability to work in a high-volume environment with accuracy.

Ability to use precision tools and industry-related technology.

Ability to maintain prompt, regular, and reliable onsite attendance.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
-
Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, crouching for 4+ hours per day.

Pushing, pulling, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.

Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements.
-
Good near visual acuity required.
