Shift: 1st Shift
Duration: 4 Months
Work Schedule

Monday – Tuesday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Wednesday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Friday: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Job Summary
The Phlebotomist II is responsible for performing venipunctures and other specimen collections while ensuring accurate labeling, processing, and handling of samples. This role supports laboratory operations through troubleshooting, training assistance, workflow recommendations, and strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles

Collect, label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens per test requirements

Match laboratory requisitions with specimen tubes to ensure 100% accuracy

Properly explain venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients

Handle specimens according to temperature and transport protocols

Package specimens for transport while maintaining sample integrity

Update and verify patient information in systems

Record maintenance, decontamination, and quality data

Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations

Attend annual departmental training sessions

Answer phone calls and communicate laboratory results as required

Support workflow improvements and assist with troubleshooting when needed
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy Certification (state-specific where applicable)

Minimum 6 months of hands-on venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

2–4 years of overall phlebotomy experience preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

High School Diploma or GED
