Job Description: R&D Business Operations Analyst
Work Location & Schedule
  • Work Arrangement: Remote
  • Working Hours: US standard working hours
Duration: 10+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
 
Position Overview
The R&D Business Operations organization partners with R&D leadership to address complex business challenges through strong people, tools, and processes. The team supports key initiatives by enabling budget planning, execution, analytics, and operational excellence in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment.
This role will lead and facilitate budget planning and execution for multiple R&D functions. Responsibilities include analyzing spending trends, monitoring resource utilization, and partnering closely with Strategic Planning & Operations leads and Finance to deliver accurate and timely financial insights.

  2. Budget management experience (project, functional, or organizational level)
  3. Procurement and financial analytics experience (SAP preferred; liaison role between finance and non-finance stakeholders)
 
Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
  • Lead and support annual budget planning and execution for multiple R&D functions
  • Perform spend trend and resource utilization analytics
  • Partner with Strategic Planning & Operations Leads to collect, prioritize, and execute budget plans
  • Liaise with Finance for quarterly, year-end, and ad-hoc financial deliverables
  • Support and guide contract management teams on escalated procure-to-pay issues
  • Provide analytics support for functional and cross-functional initiatives
 
Basic Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with 3+ years of biotech/pharma business operations or financial analytics experience
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of biotech/pharma business operations or financial analytics experience
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with financial reporting and forecasting
  • General understanding of the drug development lifecycle and R&D business units
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)
  • Experience using collaboration tools such as Smartsheet and MS Teams
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and strong command of the MS Office Suite
  • Experience with enterprise systems: SAP, Ariba, Anaplan
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience supporting organizational change
  • Proactive, quick learner with a strong sense of ownership
