Duration: 12 Months
Location: Cary, NC (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week required)
Job Summary
As part of the Piping Engineering team, this role supports advanced manufacturing and life sciences projects by performing and validating piping stress analysis for critical systems. The position interfaces closely with piping design, materials, and multi-discipline engineering teams to ensure safe, code-compliant, and constructible piping systems. The role requires strong analytical capability, effective coordination within a global workshare environment, and a proactive approach to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Major Responsibilities

Perform and independently check piping stress analysis for critical piping systems using industry-standard tools.

Ensure piping designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, and ASME BPE.

Collaborate with piping designers and engineers to resolve stress-related issues and optimize system layouts.

Participate in 3D model and design reviews using tools such as Navisworks or SmartPlant Review.

Provide input into piping material specifications and verify compatibility with stress and flexibility requirements.

Support global workshare execution through effective communication, coordination, and design review.

Understand project scope and identify impacts related to change management, including adjustments to person-hours.

Estimate piping engineering activities associated with stress analysis and related deliverables.

Assist with piping design activities as required, including support of AutoCAD Plant 3D or Revit workflows.

Contribute to QA/QC processes, including calculation checking and design verification.

Proactively support continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 10+ years of experience performing piping stress analysis for industrial, commercial, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of piping stress principles, flexibility analysis, and industry codes.

Proficiency or working experience with CAESAR II for piping stress analysis.

Familiarity with model review tools such as Navisworks or SmartPlant Review.

Knowledge of piping material specifications and their interaction with stress requirements.

Working understanding of piping design fundamentals and layout development.

Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotech, or advanced manufacturing facilities preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline, global engineering environment.
