We're looking for a mechanical testing technician passionate about materials characterization who will ensure battery products perform exceptionally. You'll combine hands-on mechanical testing with rigorous data collection to validate material properties and measure real-world performance of thin layer materials. You'll understand not just what materials do, but how they perform under various mechanical and reliability conditions.

Key Responsibilities
Material Characterization & Hands-On Testing
  1. Execute comprehensive material characterization tests using specialized mechanical testing equipment
  2. Perform systematic stress-strain property extraction from thin layer materials used in battery products
  3. Design and implement test protocols for mechanical test scenarios.
  4. Identify and classify material properties that reveal performance characteristics and areas for improvement
  5. Generate detailed test reports to capture overall material performance and reliability metrics
 Data Collection & Analysis
  1. Design, execute, and manage mechanical testing protocols that capture material behavior under real-world conditions
  2. Collect, organize, and validate datasets
  3. Analyze collected mechanical test data to surface patterns, anomalies, and performance insights
  4. Create detailed documentation and reports that translate technical findings

Sample Preparation & Testing Operations
  1. Sample Management
  2. Prepare test samples according to established protocols and quality standards
  3. Document sample preparation methodologies for reproducibility and team knowledge-sharing
 Communication & Collaboration
  1. Collaborate with development teams to refine testing approaches and material specifications
  2. Communicate findings clearly—both technical results and their implications for product performance
  3. Contribute to test plan design and documentation that ensure product quality standards
  4. Deliver accurate and timely results with exceptional attention to detail
 Education
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Required Experience
  1. Minimum 1 year of proven experience with mechanical testing and reliability testing
  2. Hands-on experience with material characterization equipment and stress-strain testing (Instron tensile, electropulse)
  3. Preferably experienced with thin layer materials testing
  4. Meticulous attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication
  5. Ability to travel between office locations (Santa Clara Valley) as required.
 Helpful/Useful Experience
  1. Familiarity with mechanical testing standards and protocols
