Compensation:

Working Title
- Internal working title: Operational Readiness Specialist
- Bank title: Technical Operations Lead
- Generic title used across many functions; responsibilities are role-specific.
Core Responsibilities
- Embedded with business units at project/program level.
- Ensure readiness checklists are met prior to go-live.
- Enforce adherence to SDLC processes.
- Support:
- Documentation creation (runbooks, standards, procedures)
- Turnover documents
- Act as the “glue” across teams to prevent breakdowns such as:
- Missing change controls
- Lack of monitoring
- Unaware downstream teams (e.g., call center)
- Engage from project inception through go-live, not just at the end.
- Perform BAU remediation, including:
- Backfilling documentation for long-running production applications.
- Overall goal: prevent operational surprises and improve cross-team coordination.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- Senior role: minimum 10+ years experience.
- Backgrounds may include:
- Operational readiness
- Project/program management
- Engineering or development (with strong operational exposure)
- Open to varied prior titles; values experience over labels.
- Banking experience is a plus, but not required.
- Helpful for regulatory awareness, not core job function.
- ServiceNow (required):
- Incident management
- Change management
- Operational readiness workflows
- Visual task boards for tracking and audit trails
- Strong understanding of:
- Project lifecycle
- Application turnover
- Operational handoff concepts
- Confluence (documentation / knowledge base)
- JIRA (enterprise project management)
- Microsoft Office / standard productivity tools
ServiceNow Usage (Critical)
- Central hub for operational readiness tracking.
- Uses:
- Visual task boards
- Linked tasks tied to incidents and change tickets
- End-to-end audit trails (audit readiness is a major concern)
- Preference for systems that are:
- Visible
- Actionable
- Actively used (not static project plans)
Soft Skills & Culture Fit
- Highly values personable, communicative individuals.
- Strong:
- Verbal communication
- Written documentation skills (clear, professional, detailed)
- Needs individuals who are:
- Outgoing
- Confident
- Able to handle pushback constructively
- Leadership style preference:
- Firm but collaborative
- Persuasive rather than authoritative
- Escalates only when necessary
- Avoids “because I said so” mentality.
Work Location & Schedule
- Fully remote, anywhere within the U.S.
- Flexible time zones.
- No requirement to adjust hours for EST.
- Video interviews required (camera on).
Interview Process
- Interviews conducted via Teams.
- Typically:
- 1st round: 2 interviewers
- Possible 2nd or 3rd round for confirmation and comfort level
- Prefers smaller interview panels.
- Open to multiple conversations if needed to assess:
- Personality
- Confidence
- Communication (especially for nervous candidates)
Metrics & Success Criteria
- Operational readiness function has:
- Defined KPIs, SLOs
- Group-level success metrics
- Project-level metrics vary by initiative.
- Metrics are being intentionally baselined over several months to avoid inaccurate reporting.
- Detailed expectations will be clearer once job description is finalized.
