Job Title: Float Phlebotomist II
Duration: 3 Months 
Location: 5112 W Taft RdLiverpool, NY 13088
The Western NY area has 10 sites the floats would travel to listed by city below.

1. Auburn
2. Watertown
3. Oneida
4. Ithaca
5. Syracuse, Court St
6. East Syracuse
7. Liverpool, W. Taft Rd
8. Camillus
9. Syracuse, James St
10. Liverpool, Oswego Rd


Shift: M-F 6:45-5:30 (varied)
Rotating Sat’s 7-11 

Vaccines required: Tb, Hep B (Candidate can decline Hep B) Color vision required
Phlebotomy on all types of patients.
Hard sticks and needles, urine, thyroid testing


Summary
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.

Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.

Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.

Demonstrates technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.

Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.

Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% correctness.

Packages specimens for transport.

Stores specimen samples according to the required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.

Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attends annual department trainings.

Answers telephone calls, reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.

Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

2-3 years of experience.
