Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, business and other internal teams, communicate product updates and gather feedback from stakeholders, Coordinate with dependent teams to ensure smooth delivery, Build relationships quickly to maintain project momentum
Experience: 8 years of product management experience,
Experience shipping products and features at scale, working with engineering teams in agile environment
Technical Skills:
- Solid technical understanding with ability to discuss architecture and APIs, Ability to understand technical documentation and specifications.
- Product manager with experience building software and hardware products. The team develops integrations between the Music service (AM) and third parties where customers can use the AM service to stream music. Examples include Tesla (in-car), Sonos (in the Sonos app), Meta augmented reality glasses, cars that have Music integrated into their head units from the factory, and more.
- The PM will work closely with internal AM product and engineering team to develop product requirements jointly with BD managers and Solutions Architects, who in turn develop the business requirements and technical solutions with third parties.
- Examples of work required includes evolving existing AM capabilities on partner devices and apps, or building allnew products and features.
- The PM in this role must be familiar with new product development methodologies in software, such as how to prompt business teams to write business requirements, convert those into product requirements, create user stories, and jointly map user stories to functional requirements owned by engineering teams. The PM must have experience working closely with software developers and managers, and be familiar with concepts such as scrums, standups, roadmap reviews, backlog grooming, etc.
- The ideal candidate will have experience with software that requires hardware integration, e.g. apps that require specific hardware to work such as connected speakers. They will have worked on teams that own and operate APIs and are familiar with how SDKs work (and the differences between APIs and SDKs). They understand the difference between Agile and Waterfall methodologies and have at least a basic understanding of microservice and monolith architectural patterns, or the technical depth to acquire this knowledge quickly. They will have experience dealing with ambiguity at large software companies with cross-matrixed teams that share responsibility for large features.
- The PM does not need to have been a programmer themselves, but because this work requires close embedding with software teams both at partners, close collaboration with SDEs/SDMs and understanding working styles, terminology, etc is highly preferable. This will require representing company(jointly with others) in partner-facing meetings, requiring some experience in executive presentation and understanding how to present technical concepts and abstract them for a business audience, if needed. Excellent written skills are required, especially knowing how to simplify technical discussions and representing roadmap decisions and tradeoffs.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in technical product management focused on software delivery is required, ideally with some knowledge of developing software that requires hardware.
- Knowledge of APIs, SDKs, agile software development methodologies etc is a plus.
