Title: Scrum Master
Duration: 6-month 
Location: Southlake,TX  – 3 days/week in office (moving to 4 days/week)

Job Description

The Scrum Master is a servant leader who coaches Scrum teams to progress, learn, and operate at their highest level. The role involves removing impediments, facilitating Agile ceremonies, supporting Product Owners with backlog readiness, and shielding the team from distractions. A strong understanding of Scrum and the ability to train others is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Sprint Planning & Facilitation

  • Present planned vs. historical velocity to guide sprint commitments.

  • Support Product Owner in planning and roadmap discussions.

  • Foster strong communication and enforce team norms.

  • Review action items and ensure accountability.

  • Facilitate Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and track metrics.

  • Provide status reports on accomplishments, risks, and issues.

  • Support backlog grooming, prioritization, and right-sizing of stories.

  • Help the team self-organize and drive sprint goals.

Team Support & Coaching

  • Keep the team moving forward and remove impediments.

  • Enable collaboration across roles and functions.

  • Protect the team from external interruptions.

  • Promote self-organization and continuous improvement.

  • Coach Product Owners on backlog management and alignment with product vision.

  • Monitor for Agile anti-patterns, quality issues, and bottlenecks.

  • Encourage T-shaping, better engineering practices, and frequent builds.

Scrum & Agile Enablement

  • Ensure Agile principles and Scrum processes are understood and followed.

  • Foster creativity, empowerment, and adherence to team processes.

  • Drive continuous improvement through well-run retrospectives.

Requirements

  • Strong communicator with proven ability to add value to teams.

  • Experience as a Scrum Master for a software team actively practicing Scrum.

  • Ability to coach developers and guide teams in Agile best practices.

  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and willingness to make tough calls.

  • Skilled at identifying issues early and escalating as needed.
