Job Description

Title: Compliance Analyst II / EHS Specialist I
Duration: 6 Months (CONTRACT TO POSSIBLE)
Location: Burlington, NC 27215
Shift: 1st | 9 am - 5 pm M-F

 
Summary:
  • This is an entry-level position.
  • The Client is currently seeking a EHS Specialist I to join their team.
  • The EH&S Specialist 1 is responsible for ensuring the implementation of Corporate/Enterprise/Site-Specific policies to support a healthy and safe work environment.
  • The EHS Specialist I may report to a EHS Manager or be placed in a smaller Facility by themselves.
  • In this role, you will help to develop, implement and maintain programs and processes that will ensure a safe and environmentally responsible work environment and compliance with applicable regulatory standards, company policies/ procedures, minimize EHS related risk, and strive for EHS excellence.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be a leader and champion for continual improvement in environment, health, and safety.
  • Conduct frequent facility walk arounds to help in the identification of hazards that pose risks to site personnel.
  • Perform facility inspections and audits in alignment with local, state and federal regulations and corporate/enterprise policies and procedures.
  • Provide support for maintaining waste water and storm water compliance using Tier 2 Reporting, Storm and Wastewater Permits, SPCC and site specific Emergency Response plans.
  • Coach, counsel and guide department leaders and team members to ensure EHS programs and policies are adhered to, Including OSHA and EPA.
  • Assist supervisors/managers with investigation of employee injuries (as needed) and post-accident case management.
  • Assists Warehouse and Logistics Supervisors/Managers with implementing Forklift Program, certifies employees, license record keeping.
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA/EPA/CDC inspections, fire equipment, AED units, hoists, ladders, eye wash stations and stored respirators.
  • Maintains records pertinent to site specimen exposure, exposure to hazardous chemicals and waste, as required.
  • Responsible for managing the site inspections and permits related to EPA (chemical hazardous waste), CDC, and OSHA.
  • Perform other related job duties and projects as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
  • An Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related discipline required.
  • Must successfully complete RCRA and DOT training within six months of the position for hazardous waste storage, disposal, and transportation.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with supporting and leading an EHS program in a relevant environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA regulations desirable.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Proficient knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Additional Comments/Requirements:
  • Must be physically fit to wear personal protective equipment to include but not be limited to Respiratory protection and other similar PPE.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 2-4 years of experience.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Immunizations and screenings as required.
  • Monitor Hazardous Waste Program.
Required Skills:
  • Certs in OSHA
  • EHS related certs
Preferred Skills:
  • Lab testing or medical terminology is a +.
