Job Description
Position Title: Pharmacy Technician
Work Location: Irving, TX 75063
Assignment Duration: 02 months
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM CT (1 hour lunch break; Two 15-minute paid breaks)
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary:
• The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting pharmacy operations by accurately creating patient profiles and entering prescription data.
• This position is responsible for reviewing prescriptions for completeness and contacting physician offices to clarify any discrepancies or missing information.
Key Responsibilities:
• Show initiative and take an enthusiastic proactive approach to work.
• Strong telephone skills
• Exhibit sense of urgency and superb multi-tasking skills.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information.
• Ability to read and interpret prescriptions
• Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Responsible for assisting Pharmacists in the safe distribution of medications and the provision of pharmaceutical care.
• Enter and process new prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system where permitted by pharmacy regulation, and only at the direction of the supervising pharmacist after their review of the prescription in accordance with The Organization policy and procedure.
• Maintains a neat and clean workstation.
• Accurately process all orders in a timely manner.
• Assist in maintaining the accuracy of software templates.
• Other tasks as assigned by Management.
• Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
Qualification & Experience:
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills are essential for this position
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multitasking and adapting to change
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Experience using MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Must have reliable transportation to attend training sessions and meetings
• Bilingual preferred but not required – Spanish
• High school graduate or equivalent
• 1-3 years of experience in a Data Intake Pharmacy
• Pharmacy Technician License
