Job Title: QRC Specialist- Innovation PT
Location: Tech Center- Hershey, PA (17033)
Duration: 12 Months (possible extension up to 18 Months)
Job Type: Part-time; (Hybrid- some days required onsite)
Overview:
This role supports Innovation with a focus on food safety and speed to market, including “atypical” approaches to develop, manufacture, and market new products. The position requires flexibility to quickly adapt to changing business needs and maintain a fluid work environment.The role provides intermittent project support. Scheduled days and hours may vary.
Working under the direction of Manufacturing Quality Systems & Labs, and in collaboration with R&D, Operations, Engineering, Packaging, and Commercial Teams, this position is responsible for ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across the Agile Innovation Process and traditional early-stage innovation.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying and facilitating approval of ingredients and packaging.
- Identifying and raising risks via brainstorming sessions with project teams.
- Developing Food Safety and Quality plans.
- Providing on-site support for manufacturing and distribution operations.
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations, industry standards, and company programs.
Main Duties:
Time Allocation | Responsibilities
- 75% – Represent Quality & Regulatory Compliance (QRC) on Front-of-Funnel Innovation and other applicable projects. Ensure food safety and quality aspects are accounted for in planning and execution. Conduct risk brainstorming sessions. Communicate and transfer knowledge on projects and product changes to regional QRC personnel.
- 20% – Support packaging and ingredient supplier approval process. Prepare documentation for FSMA, Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance. Provide on-site support at manufacturing sites during trials/production. Handle quality issue resolution involving manufacturing, distribution, and logistics. Prepare issue-resolution reports and communicate updates to partners. Stay current on regulations, food safety trends, pest control requirements, and HACCP/PEP policies.
- 5% – Participate in continuous program improvement efforts using audit data, KPIs, gap analysis, and benchmarking to set yearly goals.
- In-depth knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP, GMPs, FDA regulations, and quality design principles.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including dairy, sweeteners, confectionery, cereal, peanuts/tree nuts, ground nuts, raisins, flour, snacks, baking, extrusion, and warehousing. (Manufacturing plant experience preferred.)
- Familiarity with new product development steps and lifecycle.
- Minimum 5 years of Food Quality and Food Manufacturing experience.
- FDA PCQI certification preferred.

Ability to anticipate issues, troubleshoot effectively, and leverage company-wide resources to evaluate quality aspects.
- Preferred from food manufacturers.
- Duration: Approximately 1 week (~20 hours).
- Format: Reviewing standards and processes, shadowing, virtual training sessions, and metal detector training.
