Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Duration: 3+ months
Location: 1345 13th St, Ste R, Columbus, GA
Shift Hours: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Summary
The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to ensure efficient operations within the laboratory or patient service center.
Position Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.

Decontaminate work areas and update patient information accurately.

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.

Demonstrate proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature to maintain integrity.

Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and comply with all safety and quality guidelines.

Attend annual department trainings.

Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy Certification (as required by the state of employment).

Minimum 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

0–2 years of overall experience.
