Position Summary:
The Scientist II will be a member of the Pharma Services/Research and Early Development Team in Pleasanton to support clinical sample processing which includes DNA extraction, library preparation, target enrichment and Next Generation Sequencing. The successful candidate will also design, plan and execute assigned research and/or development-related experiments/projects utilizing established and innovative procedures, while applying scientific knowledge and accumulated experience to complete projects. We are looking for an experienced laboratory scientist who not only can meticulously process samples but can also analyze data, evaluate results, form conclusions and document process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
•Sample processing -- Routinely execute standard molecular biology techniques, from DNA extraction to library preparation, target enrichment and next generation sequencing with accuracy and precision
•Follow protocols precisely, and with extreme care under design control regulations and GMP laboratory conditions
•Be comfortable with and be able to adapt to regular protocol changes as protocols are being developed and improved
•Regularly work with human biological samples, including, but not limited to, blood, plasma, tissue, urine and saliva for nucleic acid extraction
•Routinely process multiple samples with accuracy and consistency
•Plan and execute assay development and optimization experiments/projects as needed and communicate progress updates •Analyze data to identify areas success/failure/needing improvement
•Assume responsibility for timely completion of projects
•Adapt to changing priorities
•Accurately and consistently record detailed sample tracking information, experimental methods, materials and results in electronic laboratory notebooks and/or worksheets
•Occasionally present findings and/or comprehensive project status reviews at internal seminars and department meetings
•Apply technical writing skills to produce reports and documents

Qualification & Experience:
Min 5 yrs exp w/ Bachelors degree
•Ability to work under pressure with highly precious samples
•Strong laboratory proficiency and experience with processing multiple samples with high degree of accuracy in a high through-put environment is preferred
•Experience with high throughput pipetting on daily basis with single and multichannel pipettes with accuracy
•Familiarity with Google Workspace -- Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides (preferred) and/or Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
•Experience with NGS based workflows including target enrichment, and library preparation is preferred
• NGS sequencing experience preferred
• Experience with PCR, qPCR, ddPCR is preferred
•Accurate record keeping a must
•Flexibility in working hours, especially during the training period a must
•Multichannel pipetting proficiency a must
