Job Description
Job Title: Workshop Specialist - Robotics & 3D Printing
Location: Boston, MA 02210
Duration: 6 Months
This role must work in-person at our Boston Technology Center.
Position Overview
As a Workshop Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Technology Center team to drive day-to-day workshop operations, maintain machines/spaces and learn how to operate a diverse additive and subtractive equipment portfolio. Shop equipment includes robotics, CNC mill/lathes/routers, waterjet, 3D printers (polymer/metal), lasers, composites, glass, ceramics, finishing, wood, and metal. This role will primarily focus on supporting robotics, programming robots, creating robotic end-of-arm tooling, ensuring robot safety, and working with 3D printing.
The Technology Center Workshops are physical locations with cutting-edge fabrication capabilities. Each has teams with experience and expertise to consult on project design, collaborate on its execution, and train on safe machine operation.

Responsibilities
- Innovate, design, and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures, and procedures
- Support robotics by programming robots, creating robotic end-of-arm tooling, and ensuring robot safety
- Contribute to continuous improvement of fabrication processes, workshop safety, and equipment
- Assist and support Research and Resident projects with a focus on robotics and 3D printing
- Contribute to shop material stocking, organizing, cleaning, and waste management
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair shop equipment
- Partner with the Research and Design Engineers as their support technician
