Title: Game Designer V
Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension

PORTOLIO REQUIRED: A portfolio that features some games you have prototyped or shipped, and showcases your game design skills

Candidate Requirements
Must-Have Skills

1    10+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 2 shipped titles in AAA or indie game spaces.
2    Experience using or making games with a 3D engine (Unreal, Unity, etc).
3    Experience leading implementation, strategy, content and/or balance on live service games with knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse cross functional teams to bring a game vision to life.

Nice-to-have Skills    
1    Experience developing or designing AR or VR games.
2    Experience prototyping and/or implementing novel game features in a 3D engine.
3    Experience leading end-to-end development efforts and designing games or digital experiences from concept to launch.
General design knowledge across a range of design specializations, such as level design, system design, economy design, or combat design.
Years of Experience:    10+ years of experience.

Degrees/Certifications Required: N/A but please submit a portfolio.

Summary
We need a game designer who has a specialty in designing and maintaining live service experiences, including the design and strategy of seasonal events, quests, and other content for live operations games. This is critical to keeping Horizon engaging and feeling fresh with a goal to improve user engagement and retention across the platform.
This is a new type of position for Horizon, and we are figuring out the permanent resourcing as we build this. This effort requires more upfront work for the team, but this position should develop and optimize the cadence as part of the effort, as well as improve the systems.
This person will work together with our Core Loop team to design new seasonal events, establish and manage best practices for a LiveOps experience, improve the pipeline of quest and reward creation, create calendars of content, manage the economy and strategize programming of dynamic content elements.

Responsibilities:
Design and implement quests and experiences with satisfying and novel core mechanics and loops across a variety of content, including evergreen content, seasonal moments, and limited time events.
Partner with art and product teams to strategize and create compelling reward assets to drive desired user behavior, while managing the overall economy ecosystem.
Partner with internal and external creators across Horizon Worlds to design, highlight and integrate seasonal content.
Define and create best practices and frameworks that can be used to evaluate design quality, define tuning and iteration benchmarks, and evaluate releases against user goals and target metrics. Develop these frameworks into elegant processes that can be shared and aligned on with cross-functional teams and leaders.
Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional team, leveraging user research, data science, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
Give and solicit real time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product.
Be an advocate for the user experience from product conception to launch, as well as post-launch design support
Clearly articulate game design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders.
Contribute to strategic decisions in partnership with Design, Product, Art, and Leadership teams.
