Will need to be onsite for carrier visits or internal meetings

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics or transportation, with a strong preference for those who have managed supplier or vendor relationships directly and maintained stable tenure in past roles. A college degree is preferred but not required to be in logistics or supply chain. While experience in pharma or biotech is a plus, candidates from consumer goods or other logistics-heavy industries are also welcome. Candidates should be proficient in Excel for data analysis and trend identification; experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is a plus, and familiarity with SAP TMS is helpful but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as this role involves frequent interaction with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and customers.
The Transportation Specialist (Global Transportation Manager) is responsible for acting as the Global Transportation Manager for a specified region (EMEA or Americas). This role involves leading supplier relationships for appointed Transportation Service Providers, ensuring on-track performance for suppliers in scope. The specialist will develop, implement, maintain, and monitor best-in-class, cost-effective, and GDP-compliant transportation strategies and solutions, either individually or through Global Distribution Hubs. Continuous improvement principles are applied while designing, implementing, and sustaining distribution solutions as part of Global Transportation Excellence.

Basic Qualifications
  • Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience preferably in logistics or engineering/extensive Industry experiences?:
  • Doctorate degree OR
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor degree preferably in logistics or engineering / extensive industry experiences
• 5+ years experience in logistics, supply chain, cold chain, and/or transportation expertise
• Solid experience in project management across departments and geographies
• Experience managing suppliers and improving processes
• Quick process understanding, insight, and visualizing
• Ability to use data to deliver insights and identify course of action
• Fluent in English, both in verbal and written communication
• Strong analytical skills (incl. MS Excel) and ability to distill insights
• Independent self-starter, able to work autonomously, under pressure, and in teams
• Natural relationship builder in which Client interests prevail: be soft on the relationship when possible and be tough when needed
• Result focused and proven ability to deliver results
• Motivated, persistent, eager to optimize, drive for excellence
• Strong relational, negotiating, and persuasion skills
• Problem solver with high sense of responsibility
• Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal & written)
• Oversee processes beyond own department

Preferred Requirements
• GMP and GDP knowledge
• Knowledge of Operational Excellence tools, six sigma, FMEA
• Experience in TMS (e.g. SAP TM) and BW
• Experience setting up service level agreements
• Good technical writing skills

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, are essential for distilling insights from data and identifying courses of action.
  • Project Management: Solid experience in project management across departments and geographies is crucial for managing multiple assignments and processes independently and concurrently.
  • Relationship Management: Natural relationship-building skills are necessary to maintain excellent relationships with third parties and internal stakeholders, ensuring client interests prevail.
Day to Day Responsibilities:    
  • Perform regular performance and business reviews with supply chain partners on current business, escalations, reporting and improvements.?
  • Act as key contact for allocated GTX carrier, partnering with the third party to deliver responsive and effective supplier relationships?
  • Support internal stakeholders in escalating issues to supply chain partners by maintaining excellent relationships with third parties on appropriate management level?
  • Identify and drive improvements from data provided by SAP TM system?
  • Be the subject matter expert for Transportation and related GDP topics for Americas region
  • Document and maintain procedures for the effective transportation of Client products from source to customer. ?
  • Initiate and lead projects related to GTX activities, aimed at enhanced compliance, improved service and increased efficiencies?
  • Support investigations into transportation related incidents including root cause investigation and definition of corrective and preventative (CAPA), to further mitigate risk?
  • Drive closure of CAPA and business cases in the area of transportation compliance together with compliance, third party suppliers and GTX colleagues?
  • Awareness of industry trends and developments in logistics including updating and education of internal stakeholders and departments?
  • Support in audits and respond to audit requests with GTX carrier related topics for Americas region
  • Knowledgeable on (country) regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical distribution as well as guidelines and business requirements.?
  • Establish, maintain and improve relevant KPIs and performance statistics
