Position Overview
The Client is seeking a highly motivated Formulation Scientist to join the Pharmaceutical Research Sciences department in Lexington, MA. This role will focus on the formulation and characterization of peptides, proteins, small molecules, and bioconjugates, supporting in vitro and in vivo studies.
 
Reporting Structure
  • Reports to: Head of Pharmaceutical Formulation Sciences
  • Role Type: Individual Contributor (no direct reports)
  • Internal Collaboration: Project teams and research colleagues in Lexington, MA
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare peptide and protein injectable formulations for in vitro and in vivo studies, including selection of buffers, excipients, and surfactants
  • Conduct biophysical characterization and stability studies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure dosage forms meet desired biophysical and biochemical profiles
  • Contribute to early formulation screening strategies and execution
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot biophysical and analytical characterization instruments
  • Perform laboratory work safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with safety standards
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in biological, biochemical, or pharmacological sciences preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Strong expertise in injectable formulation development and biophysical characterization
  • Experience with spectroscopy, calorimetry, light scattering, and related techniques preferred
  • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation to support scientific conclusions and recommendations
  • Experience managing projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent scientific communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong attention to detail with experience documenting work in Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN)
  • General knowledge of cGMP, GLP, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements is a plus
