Job Description

Position: Mech/Manufacturing Engineer

Duration: 12 Months
Location: Redmond WA

 

Summary

Our client, a cutting-edge technology leader, is developing next-generation spacecraft and satellite systems that will bring high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity to communities worldwide.

As a First Line Support – Manufacturing Engineer, you will be directly responsible for building, testing, qualifying, and producing next-generation spacecraft. You will utilize innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to solve difficult manufacturing and engineering problems daily, both at a systems and specialized level.

You will serve as the first line of support for technical challenges on the production floor, responding rapidly to issues, triaging, and developing solutions to improve throughput. You’ll also help drive structural improvements, reducing recovery times and eliminating recurring production disturbances by collaborating with technical teams.

This role follows a 4x10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts per week) and is assigned to the Front Half Nights (Su-W,5pm-330am), & Back Half Nights (W-Sa,5pm-330am)
 


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first technical point of contact for production disturbances, resolving blockers quickly and implementing long-term solutions.

  • Process defective material for engineering evaluation and determine next steps.

  • Modify shop orders to enable continuous production execution.

  • Develop and improve troubleshooting documentation for production test hardware.


Day-to-Day Expectations

  • 75% on the production floor working with technician teams on technical blockers (test report reviews, defect triage, ERP blockers, etc.).

  • 25% dedicated to independent development work such as data analysis on disturbances and improving troubleshooting documentation.


Required Skills

  • Familiarity with Low-Rate Manufacturing Environments & New Product Introduction

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices & principles

  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis techniques (Fishbone, Fault Tree, DMAIC, etc.)

  • Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills

  • Experience with Electrical System Design & Metrology

  • Experience with Mechanical Design & Failure Analysis


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP software

  • Experience with NX Unigraphics or similar CAD software

  • Background in Aerospace and/or Optical Manufacturing

  • Proficiency with Python programming

  • Experience with Fiber Optic Systems

  • Familiarity with Statistical Analysis software (e.g., Minitab)
