Position Title: Float Phlebotomist II
Assignment Duration: 3+ Months
Work Arrangement: Onsite | Float Role
Location: 28 Campion Rd, New Hartford, NY (Home site will ultimately be assigned based on candidate location.)
Schedule- Monday–Friday:, 8-hour shift between 5:45 AM and 6:00 PM (Exact start and end time may vary), Rotating Saturdays: 6:15 AM – 12:30 PM
(About 4.5–5.5 hours)
Work Locations (Floating Required):
Candidate will float between 8 locations:
• 2 locations – Utica, NY
• 2 locations – New Hartford, NY
• 2 locations – Rome, NY
• 1 location – Barneveld, NY
• 1 location – Ilion, NY
Training:
• Initial training at one designated site
• Candidate will not remain at training location
• Floating to alternate sites begins after training
• Minimum training period: 2 weeks (longer if needed)
Work Environment:
• Patient Service Centers
• One Doctor’s Office (IOP)
Patient Population:
• Pediatrics
• Adults / All Ages
Daily Volume:
• Approximately 30–40 blood draws per day
Team Structure:
• Some sites staffed independently
• Some sites staffed with multiple team members
Position Summary:
The Float Phlebotomist II supports specimen collection operations across multiple sites and assists with blood collection, specimen processing, troubleshooting, workflow support, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection
• Draw blood using straight needles and butterfly needles
• Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens
• Collect urine and fecal samples as required
• Verify physician orders and specimen accuracy
• Update patient demographics and records
• Record maintenance and decontamination logs
• Store specimens according to temperature requirements
• Ensure specimen integrity during transport
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations
• Support workflow recommendations and troubleshooting
• Respond to patient and laboratory inquiries
• Attend annual training requirements
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience in hospital or fast-paced laboratory setting
• Experience with venipuncture and specimen processing
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Valid Phlebotomy Certification (state-specific if required)
• 2–4 years overall experience preferred
