Lead Billing Specialist
Location: San Antonio, Hybrid
Compensation: $75,000 - $79,000 + Bonus

Our client is seeking a Lead Billing Specialist to oversee a small team of billers within a multi‑state, shared‑services environment. This is the first external hire for this leadership role—ideal for someone with strong emotional intelligence, proven people management skills, and deep billing experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, coach, and manage a billing team (time & attendance, delegation, performance, counseling).
• Oversee the full billing lifecycle: project setup, invoice preparation, revenue adjustments, and month-end activities.
• Run and create project/billing reports; ensure accuracy of billing data and project structures.
• Partner with Project Managers and internal teams to meet deadlines and resolve billing issues.
• Deliver invoices via client portals and manage project inactivation/reactivation.
• Drive process improvements and maintain high-quality, timely billing operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
5+ years of billing & receivables experience.
Leadership or team‑lead experience required.
Experience in mid to large‑size, multi‑site organizations; centralized billing model experience strongly preferred.
Strong communication, emotional intelligence, and ability to manage high-volume workloads with shifting priorities.
