Job Description

Job title: Release Train Engineer (RTE) – Cloud Platform ART
Location: San Diego, CA or Acton, MA (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 Months
 
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support client's Cloud Platform Agile Release Train (ART) within a regulated medical device environment. The RTE will partner closely with Product Owners, Technical Leaders, Architects, Systems Engineering, and Program Management teams to drive planning, execution, and delivery across multiple Scrum teams.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in SAFe Agile methodologies, cloud platform delivery, and cross-functional program coordination, with the ability to manage dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communications in a complex, highly regulated environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Agile Leadership & Facilitation
  • Lead and facilitate PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, ART Syncs, Inspect & Adapt events, and other SAFe ceremonies.
  • Support Agile teams and maintain adherence to SAFe operating practices.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and escalation management across teams and stakeholders.
Program & Delivery Management
  • Coordinate planning and execution across multiple Agile teams supporting the Cloud Platform.
  • Manage and track cross-team dependencies, integration activities, risks, issues, and impediments.
  • Provide visibility into ART execution through:
  • Milestone tracking
  • Burn-up reporting
  • Delivery forecasting
  • Status reporting and metrics
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Owners, Systems Engineering, Architects, and Engineering Leaders to support:
  • Feature definition
  • Backlog refinement
  • Readiness assessments
  • Planning activities
  • Coordinate with adjacent platform and product teams to align delivery plans and integration activities.
  • Support Agile teams that may not have dedicated Scrum Master support.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in:
  • Software Development Program Management
  • Project Management
  • Agile Delivery
  • Scrum Master
  • Technical Program Management (TPM)
  • Release Train Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience serving as:
  • Release Train Engineer (RTE)
  • Senior Scrum Master
  • Agile Program Manager
  • Technical Program Manager supporting multiple Agile teams.
  • 3+ years of experience working within:
  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
  • Large-scale Agile environments
  • Multi-team Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting cloud-based software platforms and distributed engineering teams.
  • Experience working within regulated medical device environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
