Job Title: Field Research Assistant
Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Hermiston, OR, 97838
Shift Details:

• Standard harvest schedules (may fluctuate):
  • Start times as early as 5:00 AM
  • End times as late as 4:00 PM
• Current Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• Field Season Schedule: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM

 The Field Assistant will perform a variety of routine tasks associated with research seed production. This role supports seed production activities throughout the field season and includes limited operation of field equipment and assistance with harvest activities as needed. The position requires the ability to work in inclement weather, including windy conditions and hot or cold temperatures.
Tasks may be performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. The Field Assistant must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions. General instructions will be provided for routine tasks, with detailed guidance given for new tasks. All work will be performed under supervision.
 
Responsibilities:

• Support field research operations including:
  • Planting
  • Roguing
  • Weeding
  • Data collection
  • Leading detasseling crews
  • Performing field checks
• Coordinate closely with the Agronomy Supervisor and Area Specialists to support daily field activities.
• Provide harvest support when applicable, including work with:
  • Husking
  • Dryers
  • Conditioning processes
• Operate a company vehicle as part of daily responsibilities.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

• Special Equipment Required:
  • Steel-toed boots when working in warehouses
