Job Title: Histotechnician V
Location: 16001 West 9 Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48075
Duration: 4 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Possible Saturday rotation (optional)
Position Summary
The Histotechnician V will perform routine and specialized paraffin histotechnology duties in a state-of-the-art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, this role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic materials while meeting established turnaround times and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities

Embed, cut, stain, and process tissue samples in the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) laboratory

Perform accurate gross description of tissue specimens

Conduct routine and special staining techniques

Perform and document quality control procedures for all assigned methods

Operate laboratory instruments and equipment according to written SOPs

Identify instrument or equipment issues and report them promptly

Meet established turnaround time and productivity standards

Recognize testing errors or discrepancies and assist with problem resolution

Record, transcribe, and maintain patient test results per laboratory protocols

Review results for accuracy and completeness prior to release in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Assist colleagues in identifying and analyzing inconsistent or abnormal results

Complete routine and STAT testing within required turnaround times
Required Qualifications

Associate degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related life science

Formal Histology training from an accredited program (minimum 720 hours)

Meets CLIA personnel standards

State licensure where applicable (CA, FL, NY required)

10+ years of Histotechnician experience
