Parking: Free.***MUST HAVE***1 year + experience *Not currently attending school*Commute less than 25 miles from site*Positive and professional attitude*Strong team work skills*Attention to detail Job Description: The Lab Assistant supports the Endocrine lab by contributing to specimen processing, office administration, and general laboratory operations. This position is critical for ensuring the accuracy and consistency of lab workflows and upholding the credibility of the lab.1. Specimen ProcessingReceives blood samples delivered by mail, FedEx, courier, etc.Assigns a unique barcode to each specimen and preps samples for testing.Separates blood from serum using a centrifuge.Checks and verifies incoming paperwork for accuracy and completeness. Resolves any issues or concerns related to samples or paperwork.Provides excellent customer service and communicates with clients (other labs, doctors’ offices, Norris and Keck Medical Centers).Ensures utmost attention to detail to avoid errors, as improper handling or mislabeling can have significant consequences.Does not perform data entry related to sample processing; this is handled by a related team.Must be proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.2. Office SupportPrepares patient past sheets, verifies patient records, and performs data entry tasks.Assists with patient billing documentation.Disperses patient reports via fax, email, or mail.Handles various administrative tasks in support of lab workflow.3.
