Shift: 1st shift 7am-330pm M-F with ½ lunch or can work 7AM to 4PM M-F with an hour lunch
Ped, ger experince required
Vaccine Requirements: Hepatitis B, MMR, T-DAP, Varicella Color vision is required

Summary

The main function of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas.

• Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.

• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture or other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine, fecal) to patients.

• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

• Accurately interpret and follow physician orders.

• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order.

• Verify requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.

• Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature, storage, and labeling to maintain specimen integrity.

• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

• Attend annual department training.

• Answer phone calls and relay laboratory results when required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (required in some states).

• Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
