Duration: 1 year
Location: North York preferred, open to Chatham and Stony Creek, ON
Hybrid Model: In-Office (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday) Remote (Wednesday & Friday)
Job Overview:
Working independently, able to review and assess technical solutions and complete custom complex engineering and energy efficiency calculations for specific customer sectors to internal stakeholders who are delivering the Client’s Energy Conservation programs directly to customers and affiliated business partners. Guide the delivery team members by consulting and advising at earlier stages of the project as required or asked by the Supervisor.

Guide the delivery team members by consulting and advising at earlier stages of the project as required or asked by the Supervisor.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Working independently, able to review and assess technical solutions and complete custom complex engineering and energy efficiency calculations for specific customer sectors (primarily Commercial and Institutional accounts).
- Able to provide technical guidance and solutions to delivery team members and less experienced engineers in the energy conservation team.
- Support the continual improvement, user training, and evolution of eTools and other internal energy efficiency project calculators.
- Establish and build operational and technical relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels in the organization aimed at building long-term trust and commitment from the delivery teams and the larger energy conservation team.
- Join delivery team members to conduct site walk-throughs to assist internal stakeholders with the identification, business screening, and technical evaluation of potential energy conservation opportunities to improve operational efficiencies through basic building and thermal system audits in pursuit of natural gas savings.
- Timely review of projects into DSM tracking systems, resulting in final savings calculations that are verifiable and capable of withstanding the audit and verification process, and provide specific support during the customer audit verification process as required.
- Working in collaboration with internal Client departments to complete all custom project review requirements.
- Execute annual training plans for delivery teams or topics as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with team members and cross-boundary colleagues to complete assigned work safely, accurately, and on time while supporting company values and demonstrating key competencies.
- Revenue Generation: Assist in meeting or exceeding assigned annual Energy Conservation targets in order to provide maximum shareholder value by providing technical insight and business acumen through project review and technical advice.
- Resource Management: Self-motivated to meet specified scorecard and segment targets
- Relationship Management: Develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to build trust and protect the Client brand.
- Safety: Actively support the path to zero safety incidents, demonstrating safety leadership and ensuring team members put safety first.
- Majority of role is focused on reviewing complex technical projects, and building trust and respect by providing valuable technical advice to delivery teams.
- Extensive business acumen is needed to prioritize work and details involved based on audit leakage risk exposure.
- Works with peers in Energy Conservation, particularly in delivery teams, evaluation, and marketing.
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering (preferred mechanical, chemical, or electrical).
- 7+ years’ experience in project engineering, technical sales, or project management
- Membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario or a similar professional organization.
- Experience with energy and process efficiency projects.
- Exceptional understanding of commercial, institutional, and residential heating, cooling, and ventilation processes and technologies.
- Strong technical and analytical aptitude, ability to translate project scopes into clear and accurate energy calculations.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, able to operate independently but work with a team of like-minded professionals.
- Proven skills in leading and influencing without explicit authority.
- Proven time management skills, ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing personal time.
- Superior written and verbal communication ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong relationship building, problem-solving skills, and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a responsible driving record.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)
- Experience with energy efficiency projects for industrial manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Building and Equipment Codes and Standards.
- Strong background in Building Automation Systems, Controls, HVAC systems, Steam and Hydronic Boilers, Furnaces, Heat-Pumps, Combined Heat and Power (CHP), District Energy systems, Renewable Energy Technologies, etc.
- Understanding GHG emissions and regulations in Ontario.
- Office environment, light physical effort, normal visual/sensory effort.
- Regular visits to customer facilities and job sites to assess energy efficiency opportunities on a weekly basis.
- Travel, including overnight, mainly within Ontario, is occasionally required.
