Position Title: Biospecimen Coordinator I
Work Location: Tucson, AZ, USA, 85755
Duration: 12 Months
Work Arrangement: M-F from 7:30am-4pm


Summary:
The Biospecimen Associate will facilitate daily Biospecimen Acquisition and Management (BAM) operations. This position is responsible for many aspects of sample management including but not limited to; inventory management, processing, distribution, storage, and disposition of biological materials in compliance with local regulatory requirements, quality, business, and industry best practices/standards.

  • Follow local procedures in performing tasks associated with day-to-day BAM operations; utilize good documentation practices and follow laboratory safety policies.
  • Execute basic tasks associated with acquisition, data and/or biorepository activities to fulfill customer specimen requests.
  • Interface with a validated laboratory information management system (LIMS) according to industry best practices and standards tasks.
  • Organize specimen inventory as directed and ensure accurate and consistent labeling of samples and specimens.
  • Perform basic sample management activities such as: filing incoming biospecimen shipments, retrieving samples for requests, and returning them to their proper location after use.
  • Assist other Biospecimen Associates or Specialists with internal requests, including global shipments of samples while maintaining accurate chain of custody.
  • Support laboratory maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Oversee biospecimen logistics and tracking
  • Ensure compliance with storage regulations

Qualification & Experience:
  • 0–5 years of experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of sample tracking software preferred

  • Education Details
    • Req H.S. Diploma Or GED
    • Pref Associate's Degree In a biological discipline or a related field
  • Experiecne 
    • Req 3 years Relevant work experience with a High School Diploma Or 1 year Relevant work experience with an Associate's Degree
    • Pref Experience handling biological specimens & willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material.
    • An equivalent combination of education and directly related biospecimen experience may be considered.

    • Must be able to lift 30lbs, work in cold environment with limited daylight, stand for long periods of time and climb ladders

    • Self-motivated individual who can maintain quality, accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
  • Preffered
    • Knowledge and skill in inventory management 
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, dynamic and collaborative environment 
    • Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills 
    • Proficient with MS Excel and Google suite
