Job Title: Float Phlebotomist I
Location: NC - Charlotte - 5031G W WT Harris Boulevard (Float position so covering PSC and IOP’s in Charlotte area
Duration: 3 months
Schedule: 1st Shift | Varies between 7am-5:30pm M-F
This will depend on location they cover could start as early as 7:30 or work as late as 5 PM. Shifts will be 8 hours
Pedi and Geri is a Must
Be able to draw hard stick patients
IV mode- Onsite

Summary

The primary function of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal).

• Label specimens, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store according to test orders and protocols.

• Accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

• Explain procedures to patients clearly and courteously.

• Demonstrate phlebotomy techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

• Verify test requisitions and labels for accuracy.

• Package and transport specimens per regulatory and protocol guidelines.

• Maintain specimen integrity by storing at required temperatures.

• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks.

• Update patient information in systems accurately.

• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

• Attend annual departmental training.

• Answer telephone inquiries and provide lab results when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification (state-specific, where required).

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 0–2 years of phlebotomy experience.

• Minimum 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
