JOB TITLE: Technical Accounting Specialist Department: Finance
Location:        Hyderabad, Global Shared Service Center
 Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
 
This role is based out at Global Shared Services Center. Curia’s Global Shared Services Center (GSS) is a multi-functional strategic service center that delivers word class business support services to Curia and its consolidated subsidiaries.
The Technical Accounting Specialist will directly support and work closely with Curia’s Corporate Accounting Team on a wide variety of technical accounting matters related to the Company’s monthly accounting and reporting processes as well as significant and strategic transactions. 
 
In addition to supporting the monthly close process (primarily revenue recognition reviews), the key areas of focus will include commercial contract reviews to support revenue recognition, lease accounting, long-lived asset impairment assessments, statutory financial statement preparation, audit and tax compliance support for certain legal entities, the adoption of new accounting standards, purchase accounting resulting from M&A activities, accounting policy updates and internal training, and support of external auditor requests.
 
Beyond technical accounting activities, this position will support design enhancements to the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting and special initiatives that optimize accounting processes and systems across the Company’s global footprint.
 
The Technical Accounting Specialist requires a very strong technical accounting foundation and excellent communication skills necessary to collaborate with and support various Finance stakeholders across Curia’s global footprint.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

1. Support the Company’s compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company accounting policies and procedures, with significant focus on over-time revenue recognition in a contract manufacturing environment in accordance with ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers, including related contract asset and liability balances.

 

1. Support the Company’s lease accounting processes in accordance with ASC 842, Leases, including the identification of new leasing arrangements, modifications to existing leasing arrangements, lease classification and initial recognition of Right-of-Use assets and liabilities, and subsequent measurement of lease asset and liability balances in the Company’s lease accounting software.

 

1. Monitor for proposed and newly issued authoritative U.S. GAAP pronouncements.  Assess and document impacts on the Company’s accounting and financial reporting.  Collaborate with the Corporate Accounting Team to develop and execute implementation plans to adopt accounting standards in a timely manner.

 

1. Support the preparation of technical accounting memorandums and analyses to document and support the Company’s accounting considerations and conclusions with regard to significant transactions and accounting matters.

 

1. Partner with the Corporate Accounting Team, Business Unit Finance staff, Financial Reporting staff, and external valuation specialists to support the Company’s annual goodwill and long-lived asset impairment assessments in accordance with ASC 350, Intangibles – Goodwill and Other and ASC 360, Property, Plant, and Equipment.  Support the identification and evaluation of potential impairment triggering events occurring between the annual impairment tests as applicable.

 

1.  Support the annual audit of the Company’s consolidated financial statements, with specific focus on revenue recognition, leases, and significant/unusual transactions.  Duties include coordinating Company and auditor staff in the timely completion of required audit activities, preparing and/or reviewing documentation for delivery to the audit team, and working directly with audit team members to discuss and resolve audit matters.

 

1. Participate in Accounting and Finance initiatives and special projects (Merger and Acquisition activity, etc.) as needed.

 

1. Support the coordination of the standalone annual statutory financial statement audits and tax compliance for certain legal entities within the Curia group.

Education and/or Experience
 

• Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in accounting, finance or related field with 7+ years related experience is must
• U.S. CPA (or Non-U.S. chartered accountant designation) and public accounting work experience strongly desired
• Proficient in researching and interpreting US GAAP accounting standards and preparing technical accounting memos and position papers.  ASC 606 over-time revenue recognition accounting experience strongly desired
• Demonstrated experience with the preparation of financial statements and the coordination of financial statement audits, as well as compliance with related tax matters.
