Job Title: Tax Accountant II
Location: Seattle, WA 98134
Duration: 12 months Assignment (Possibility for Extension or Conversion based on business need)
Shift/Hours: 40hours/week, M to F
Work Model: 4 days a week on site

 
Job Description:
  • A tax accountant II delivers business value by ensuring timely, accurate and compliant tax remittances and filings.
Professional Expertise:
  • Making recommendations based on payroll tax expertise and industry trends.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, provides and implements viable solutions to issues within the payroll tax processes.
  • Recommends and applies policy adjustments on key payroll tax processes.
  • Recognizes key versus non-key controls and how tasks ladder to those controls.
  • Drives accountability of controls.
Prioritizing and Planning:
  • Drives implementation of broader payroll tax process improvements.
  • Assesses work collaboratively to align on most important tax work.
  • Proactively tracks and identifies trends through data and metrics.
Business Acumen and Problem Solving:
  • Provides consultation, develops and proposes updates to existing or new processes as a result of business or legislative changes.
  • Develop changes or enhancements to current documentation/policies.
  • Influences stakeholders to ensure compliance.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • With support, advice on payroll tax matters.
  • Recommend best practices on payroll tax processes.
  • With support, executes tax learning opportunities for non-payroll tax partners.
Key projects:
  • Working on year end payroll tasks.
  • working with large amounts of data in Excel.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Balancing daily payments.
  • Processing and reconciling stock.
  • Responding to inquiries and cases as needed.
  • Inbox management.
  • Audit work, analyzing large amounts of data.
  • Updating tax authorities for records.
Interaction level with team:
  • Collaborative and cross-functional as needed.
Technology requirements
  • Knowledge in tax compliance software and supporting data base tools. (SAP, SuccessFactors, ADP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, etc).
  • Excel Proficiency, intermediate (mostly reading data).
Degree or certifications required
  • None required.
  • Relevant certificates are nice to have.
Years experience:
  • 1 year of exp minimum.
Required background & Skills:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge in tax compliance software and supporting database tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, etc).
  • Ability to identify and collaborate on process efficiencies.
  • Payroll tax experience, including payment, reconciling, and filing.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service.
  • Multi-state and provincial tax reporting and filing.
  • Experience in federal, state, local and provincial labor law.
  • Willingness to learn.
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Accounting degree or background.
  • ECP/SAP Software experience.
