Job Title: System Test Specialist III
Duration: 12 months and likely to get extended

Summary:
  • Reality Labs - Research is dedicated to the research and development required to bring virtual and augmented reality to billions of people around the world. In Pittsburgh, we aspire to a vision of social XR, where people interact across distances in a way indistinguishable from in-person interactions.
  • We’re now seeking a talented system test specialist on the Mobile Telepresence team to accelerate the progression of low-friction and authentic social presence in virtual reality. Our prototype headset incorporates a multitude of sensing components to collect a rich suite of information that reflects the user’s physical state.
  • These prototype systems and final assemblies need to be tested, calibrated, and validated. This requires the successful candidate to design and run tests. Some of these tests will need to be converted to automated tests with proper test fixtures, testing processes, software and scripts for a factory and/or lab setting.
  • The ideal candidate for the position should have strong test engineering skills, with a working knowledge in electromechanical and software engineering and the willingness to get hands on to do testing and debugging.
  • The candidate is also expected to function in a multidisciplinary team with fellow engineers to deliver a holistic solution that would achieve mobile telepresence with a wide range of users. Excellent communication and documentation skills are essential.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Electrical engineer background
  • Knowledge of running and debugging Linux software
  • Experience with Data Analytics.
Nice-to-have Skills:
  • Needs someone who has hands on experience with prototype systems
  • Self-motivated and keen to learn different things
  • Being able to communicate effectively.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain quality standards to enable a consistently sound user experience.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to determine test parameters and various test conditions for the prototype.
  • Design, implement and execute tests to find and isolate bugs and issues.
  • Design and run experiments to determine system limits.
  • Design and implement tests and calibration processes for crucial modules and prototypes.
  • Assist in the development of instruments, algorithms, fixtures, infrastructure, and diagnostic software for the above.
  • Assist in the development of automated tests and/or CI for the above.
  • Work closely with design engineers to ensure that any equipment and processes meet standards.
  • Serve as the main contact for calibration, testing, and other processes for prototypes.
  • Track, report and work with design engineers to resolve bugs.
  • Perform the tasks above in the context for a factory and in a lab.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS in EE, CE, Physical Sciences with 1+ years of technical experience.
  • Hands-on background with testing and the design of complex testing systems.
  • Excellent understanding of the electromechanical assembly processes.
  • Capable of working in both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Understanding of software and hardware fundamentals, with practical experience with sensors such as cameras and microphones, as well as protocols such as I2C, SPI, and I2S.
  • Knowledge in production control processes, data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to develop, document and execute tests per specifications from design engineers.
  • Ability to specify and implement test stations, diagnostics, process control and data collection.
  • Ability to deal with dynamic, ambiguous, and rapidly changing environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in EE, CE, Physical Sciences with 3+ years of technical experience.
  • Project management experiences would be a bonus.
  • Knowledge in gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), correlation analysis.
  • Experience with synchronization and wireless communication would be a bonus.
  • Practical knowledge with LEDs, as well as geometric and photometric calibrations.
  • Practical knowledge with advanced devices and protocols such as FPGA and USB.
  • Fluent in Python or other scripting languages to help automate testing and reporting.
  • Total No of years of experience: 5-7 years of experience.
  • Degree / Certifications: MS in EE, CE, Physical Sciences with 3+ years of technical experience is preferred but client is even ok with 1+ technical experience

  • Prototype projects. Assisting in doing hands on testing prototype systems, Intermediate between engineers and users within the client. Help customers know how to use the device and debug.
