Job Description

Title: Senior Associate Software Engineer/Senior Lead Software Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL 60602 - Onsite 3 days per week
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Must Haves:
  • 5-8+ years of overall software engineering experience
  • 4-6+ years in Site Reliability Engineering
  • Experience developing, supporting, and managing cloud technologies
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore teams
  • Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) experience, which is the platform they currently use, OR Microsoft Azure since they working to move over to Azure soon
  • 5+ years of experience working with Java, React, Spring Boot, and any other website technologies
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed (may have to take SWAT calls outside normal business hours + will be in on-call rotation once every couple of months for 1 week at a time)
Notes:
  • Really needing someone who has developed, supported, and managed cloud technologies
  • Not looking for someone to develop the application from the ground up, but someone who understands the architecture and has the drive to engage other teams and get issues resolved + can troubleshoot.
  • Must have an application background, financial experience is preferred, who can understand how the application, transfers, and logins work.  NOT someone who has developed a transfer between applications - that is a totally different role.
  • Will be working with developers and architects - should have development background to understand how things are being developed.
  • This resource won't be talking directly to clients, but talking to other business partners internally.
  • They will need to be on SWAT calls for major incidents
  • Frequency depends - they do have a rotation for on call shifts between offshore and onsite resources - so won't be on 24-7.  It will likely be a weekly basis rotation - once every couple of months they will be on call for a week.
  • Need past operational experience
Plusses:
  • Experience with Kafka and Datastage
  • Angular or React
  • If they managed mission critical applications, but don’t have experience with either of these, they would consider them, as well
  • Experience managing a financial website
Day to Day:
The client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a growing team that is responsible for supporting and maintaining all client facing cloud-based applications within Wealth Management for the bank.  The primary focus of this team and this particular role is production stability, so this person’s day to day responsibilities will be focused on production Issues.  The right person for this role will have strong experience tracking production issues, documenting those issues, circling back with the development team and working with them to find a permanent solution. This person will need to understand which issues are going into production so that they can be a part of the development release and communicate back with the business units to let them know when issues have been resolved. The Senior Software Engineer will also oversee incidents, any outages, and be engaged in SWAT calls.  This is an urgent need for the team, and they are ready to accept a new addition to their team ASAP.
