Job Title: Senior Scientist
Location: Remote
Duration: 12 months
Description:

Remote - west coast time zone preferred.
Ideal candidate: Programming experience in Python & R and familiarity with tidyverse principles. PhD in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science. Experience leveraging bioinformatics and statistical analyses in clinical development and biomarker research, with preferred focus on prostate cancer and other solid tumor contexts. Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment and drive scientific and technical innovation collaboratively with other members of the group, as well as with Client research community. A working knowledge and experience of Machine Learning and AI technologies. Experience applying ML/AI in clinical trial settings is a plus.

*Experience must be within Pharma or Biotech (bioinformatics exp. looking for patient data)

The Clinical Biomarkers & Diagnostics (CBD) department at Client is looking for a highly motivated Computational Biologist with expertise in clinical bioinformatics, biomarker development, assay development, ML algorithms & data science, statistical modeling, handling clinical data sets and a background in biology and computational sciences. This is a high-visibility, individual contributor role preferring experience within matrix environments representing the function and requiring the development of methods to support the entirety of the clinical portfolio at Client.
 
Basic Qualifications
0+ Years w/ Relevant PhD, PharmD, MD, OR equivalent [and relevant post-doc where applicable]â?¢ 3+ Years w/ Relevant MS OR equivalentâ?¢ 5+ Years w/ Relevant BS OR equivalentâ?¢ Advanced and proficient understanding and use of technical principles, theOR ies, and concepts to perfOR m an expansive range of wOR k in a role.â?¢ Basic knowledge of related and adjacent disciplinary areas.

Top 3 Must Have Skill Sets:
1. Significant experience in bioinformatics, applied mathematics and/or statistics, including linear mixed effects models, to analyze multi-modal, multi-dimensional and large-scale biological data
2. A working knowledge of platforms and readouts utilized for the assessment of clinical biomarkers including flow cytometry, IHC, NGS, immunoassays, imaging, and transcriptional profiling assays
3. Programming experience in Python & R and familiarity with tidyverse principles
4. Ability to translate biological and medical questions into analytical models providing actionable results
5. Familiarity with assay development and qualification requirements for clinical trial support
6. Three or more years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
7. Strong written and oral communication skills, self-motivation, independence, and leadership

Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Support the development of clinical biomarkers supporting Client programs through the formulation and execution of biomarker data analysis
• Perform assessment of biochemical coverage, patient stratification, indication selection in Client’s early and late clinical development programs and discovery of clinical insights at asset and portfolio levels through the application of knowledge discovery and data mining techniques
• Develop translational informatics analysis workflows in a high-content, multi-omics, multi-modal data domain encompassing genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and epigenomics domains
• Work with biologists, especially in immuno-oncology, to leverage information on targeted biological pathways along with development of computational algorithms to manage and mine internal and external genomics and other high-content databases
• Provide leadership and expertise to the function in the areas of algorithm development, bioinformatics, data integration & management, visualization, analysis, and presentation
• Interface cross-functionally with the early development teams, assay laboratories, in-vitro diagnostics, and biomarker representatives.
