Job Title: Senior AMI Evaluation Engineer
Duration: 14 Months Assignment
Location: Westminster, CA 92683

Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior AMI Evaluation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of testing experience in advanced metering products and a strong background in evaluating Customer Grid Edge (CGE) and AMI solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed test plans, test cases, milestones, timelines, and product evaluation reports.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate CGE and AMI products and solutions by developing comprehensive test plans and cases. Lead the evaluation and testing of advanced metering infrastructure products.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to assess product performance against industry standards.
  • Analyze data from testing phases to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams during product development and field trials.
  • Conduct Proof-of-concept (POC) product development and testing.
  • Perform field pilot testing and oversee production device testing and field implementation plans.
  • Develop detailed product and system technical specifications & requirements in collaboration with internal partners such as IT, Wireless Engineering, Meter Engineering, and Grid Tech Innovation teams.
  • Plan and execute POC device and platform qualification through lab testing, compliance certification, and various product acceptance phases.
  • Analyze test results, work with vendors to resolve issues, and implement resolutions to meet delivery and product delivery timelines.
  • Develop technical specifications and design requirements for CGE products and platforms based on business documents, use case plans, industry standards, and SCE’s foundational requirements.
  • Prepare detailed evaluation reports and present findings to stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify system requirements and integrate AMI solutions into existing utility frameworks. 
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in AMI technologies, including smart meters, communication modules, and data management systems.
  • Proficiency in testing methodologies, quality assurance, and product validation processes.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and grid infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, ANSI, and IEC.
  • Experience with IoT, RF communications, and network protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solution.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical/math field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, specifically in product testing and evaluation.
  • Experience in product development within Metering or Grid Modernization devices.
  • Knowledge of electric grid planning, operations, and apparatus.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, machine learning, and data management systems.
  • Strong understanding of IEEE standards, IP protocols, and related technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.          
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in a technical field.
  • Experience with utility enterprise and/or grid information systems.
  • Experience with AMI technologies and data management systems.
