The benefits specialist manages day-to-day benefits administration, compliance support, and benefits reconciliation. This role ensures accurate enrollments, vendor invoicing, and payroll coordination while serving as a key liaison between HR, payroll, and onboarding teams.
Key Responsibilities of Benefits Specialist
Benefits Administration
The benefits specialist handles enrollments, terminations, HSA and 403b account setups, and coverage updates.Compliance Support
Supports claims, coverage verification, and preparation for annual compliance testing.Benefits Reconciliation
Reviews and reconciles UMR and BSP invoices, ensuring deductions align with payroll and resolving arrears and refunds.Cross-Functional Communication
The benefits specialist will partner with campus HR, payroll, and onboarding teams to communicate benefits changes and resolve issues.
Qualifications of Benefits Specialist
Required:
Working knowledge of benefits administration (HSA/403b and compliance)
The Benefits Specialist must have experience reconciling benefits invoices
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and confident
