Position Overview Seeking an Electromechanical Technician with PLC knowledge to perform installations, inspections, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and automated equipment and systems throughout its plant. The selected candidate will identify equipment failures, perform repairs, and help maintain operational continuity through the proper maintenance of industrial machinery, motors, electrical controls, and automated systems. The ideal candidate is responsible, safety-oriented, and possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electromechanical machinery and equipment used in plant operations.
Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, electronic, and control-system failures.
Inspect motors, sensors, contactors, relays, circuit breakers, electrical panels, variable frequency drives, and related components.
Perform basic troubleshooting on PLC-controlled systems.
Monitor inputs, outputs, alarms, and operational sequences to identify equipment issues.
Complete electrical and electromechanical installations according to established specifications and procedures.
Install, replace, adjust, and test electrical and mechanical components.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, control diagrams, technical manuals, and machinery schematics.
Assist with the installation, configuration, and startup of new equipment.
Test equipment after repairs to verify safe and proper operation.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
Maintain a basic inventory of tools, materials, and components required for assigned work.
Identify and report conditions that may cause equipment failures, operational interruptions, or safety hazards.
Follow lockout/tagout procedures, occupational safety standards, and company environmental policies.
Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.
Assist with other general plant maintenance duties as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical or associate degree in Electricity, Electronics, Electromechanics, Industrial Mechanics, Instrumentation, or a related field.
Previous electromechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, or similar environment.
Experience performing installations and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.
Working knowledge of PLCs and the ability to perform basic troubleshooting on automated systems.
Knowledge of electrical motors, controls, sensors, relays, contactors, and variable frequency drives.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and technical manuals.
Knowledge of electrical safety practices and lockout/tagout procedures.
Puerto Rico Journeyman Electrician or Electrician’s Helper License is preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Availability to work additional hours or respond to operational needs when required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to lift and handle tools, parts, and work-related materials.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in different positions for extended periods.
Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces when required and when appropriate safety measures are in place.
Ability to work in areas that may include noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery.
Must use the required personal protective equipment.
