Title: Speech Language Pathologist Location: Dalton, GA Duration: Full-time
Position Summary We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive speech therapy services to patients across a variety of age populations, with an emphasis on adult and geriatric care. The Speech-Language Pathologist will evaluate patients, develop individualized treatment plans, provide ongoing therapy, assess patient progress, and collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, therapy, and other clinical team members to ensure continuity of care. This position includes work within the acute care setting and requires the ability to develop and maintain the clinical skills necessary to provide treatment within both acute care and NICU environments.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive speech-language evaluations following physician referrals and orders.
Select appropriate evaluation procedures based on the patient's condition, age, and clinical needs.
Interpret evaluation results and develop individualized treatment plans, goals, and recommended interventions.
Provide speech therapy services to patients across age populations, with a strong emphasis on adult and geriatric patients.
Develop and maintain the skills necessary to provide treatment within acute care and NICU settings.
Evaluate patient response to treatment and modify treatment plans and goals as clinically appropriate.
Assess patients' readiness for treatment and determine appropriate follow-up care, referrals, home programs, and discharge recommendations.
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, goals, therapeutic activities, and strategies for continued progress.
Maintain patient safety throughout evaluations and treatment.
Complete accurate and timely evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, patient charges, and other required clinical documentation.
Maintain documentation in accordance with departmental policies and applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Communicate regularly with physicians regarding referrals, patient progress, response to treatment, and recommended modifications.
Participate in interdisciplinary discharge planning and coordinate care with nursing, therapy, physicians, and other members of the clinical team.
Participate in staff meetings, quality/performance improvement initiatives, departmental activities, and training as requested.
Assist with orientation of new personnel when needed.
Support the efficient day-to-day operation of the acute care therapy department.
Education
Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology/Speech Therapy program.
Licensure & Certifications
Must be currently licensed or eligible for licensure in Speech-Language Pathology in the State of Georgia.
American Heart Association BLS certification preferred.
Experience
5+ years of Speech-Language Pathology experience preferred.
Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations is highly desirable.
Acute care and/or NICU experience is beneficial.

Schedule & Work Environment The Speech-Language Pathologist will work a flexible schedule based on patient and physician needs and will participate in weekend and holiday rotations. The position involves direct interaction with patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. The SLP may have exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions commonly encountered within an acute healthcare environment. The role requires the ability to manage the physical and mental demands associated with direct patient care, clinical decision-making, patient and family interactions, and timely completion of required documentation.
