Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Shift: 2nd Shift, with rotating holidays
Job Summary

We are seeking a Scientific Technician / Tech Lab I to support laboratory operations involving the screening and testing of materials used in the processing, manufacturing, and distribution of blood and plasma products. The ideal candidate will perform laboratory testing, operate technical equipment, maintain quality standards, and follow established SOPs and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory procedures related to unit and donor suitability testing and other required assays.
• Conduct routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods.
• Analyze test results against established controls.
• Develop proficiency with laboratory information systems and sample workflows.
• Complete Quality Control (QC) activities according to established SOPs.
• Perform equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
• Operate analytical instruments and technical laboratory equipment.
• Accurately document testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration activities.
• Notify the supervisor of unresolved instrument or equipment issues.
• Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Follow Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and laboratory safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams to resolve issues.
• Participate in training across multiple laboratory departments as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
• Intermediate to strong computer skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively within the department and with other laboratory teams.
• Ability to follow SOPs, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of related laboratory experience preferred but not required.
• MLT or MT licensure in the State of Tennessee preferred but not required.
• Experience with laboratory information systems.
• Experience with manual and automated laboratory testing.
• Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working in a regulated laboratory or cGMP environment.

Working Conditions

• 100% onsite laboratory position.
• Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods, potentially up to 100% of the workday.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, squat, push, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Overtime or extended hours may be required based on operational needs.
• No cell phone usage is permitted inside the laboratory.

Interview Process

• 1–2 interview rounds.
• Interviews are approximately 30–45 minutes.
• Interviews will be conducted onsite at 1001 Corridor Park Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932.
• Candidates should wear appropriate laboratory attire:
  • Long pants
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Jeans without holes are acceptable
  • Scrubs are acceptable but not required
  • Leggings are not permitted
• Required PPE will be provided onsite.
