Job Title: Data Scientist II Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid) Duration: 6 Months (Contract to Hire)
Job Summary We are seeking a Level 2 Data Scientist to support the development and implementation of data science, machine learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI solutions focused on fraud detection and prevention. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with structured and unstructured data, including documents and audio, along with strong Python and SQL skills. This role will contribute to developing analytical and machine learning solutions, preparing and analyzing data, building AI/ML pipelines, and translating findings into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support machine learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI solutions for fraud detection and prevention use cases.
Work with unstructured data, including documents, audio files, and other complex data sources.
Perform data preparation, cleansing, transformation, exploration, and analysis using Python and SQL.
Develop and maintain data science workflows and AI/ML pipelines.
Use Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for data manipulation, analysis, and feature preparation.
Apply machine learning techniques to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential fraudulent activity.
Work with document databases, vector databases, or similar technologies to support unstructured-data and AI/ML use cases.
Develop, test, evaluate, and refine machine learning and AI models under the guidance of senior team members.
Analyze model results and data patterns and communicate findings to technical and business stakeholders.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while demonstrating a strong understanding of the underlying logic.
Troubleshoot data, coding, and model-related issues and identify appropriate solutions.
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support project delivery.
Document analytical approaches, methodologies, results, and recommendations clearly.
Required Technical Skills
Hands-on experience in Data Science and Machine Learning.
Strong Python programming skills.
Experience with Pandas, NumPy, and other commonly used Python data science libraries.
Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and validation.
Experience developing or supporting Generative AI and/or Agentic AI solutions.
Experience working with unstructured data, preferably documents and/or audio.
Experience with MongoDB, vector databases, document databases, or similar data technologies.
Understanding of machine learning algorithms, model development, evaluation, and optimization.
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Ability to write production-quality code and understand the logic behind the implementation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
3–6 years of relevant experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience developing data science or machine learning solutions using Python and SQL.
Experience working in collaborative technical environments and contributing to end-to-end project delivery.
