About the role
We are looking for an experienced SAP Consultant specialising in Just-in-Time and Just-in-Sequence (JIT/JIS) to design, configure and support the automotive call-off process in SAP for OEM and Tier-1 clients. You will own the JIT/JIS solution end to end — from OEM/supplier requirements through configuration, EDI integration, testing and go-live, into managed-services support — and act as the expert bridge between the manufacturing shop floor and the SAP platform.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role for someone who has configured the SAP JIT engine in real automotive projects — not only used it operationally — and who understands how JIT/JIS integrates with the wider logistics and production landscape (SD, MM, PP, LE, WM) in an S/4HANA context.
Key responsibilities
•
Analyse OEM and supplier call-off requirements and translate them into robust SAP JIT/JIS solution designs (blueprint / Pflichtenheft).
•
Configure the SAP JIT engine end to end: JIT inbound/outbound, action control (Aktionssteuerung), internal vs. external processing, quantity and sequenced (PAB) call-off types, and JIT/JIS master data.
•
Design and troubleshoot EDI/IDoc integration for delivery schedules and call-offs (VDA 4905/4915/4916, EDIFACT DELFOR/DELJIT, SEQJIT IDocs) together with EDI subsystems.
•
Integrate JIT/JIS with SD scheduling agreements, PP production/sequencing, LE deliveries, WM/EWM staging and QM goods-receipt inspection.
•
Lead workshops with OEM/supplier logistics and IT stakeholders; write functional specifications for ABAP developments and coordinate with technical teams.
•
Own testing (SIT/UAT incl. EDI test cycles with the OEM), cutover, go-live and hypercare for JIT/JIS scope.
•
Provide application managed services (AMS): monitoring, incident/problem resolution, sequence-break runbooks and continuous improvement of live interfaces.
•
Support S/4HANA projects, including evaluation of Next-Generation JIT (NJIT) and migration from the classic JIT engine.
•
Mentor junior consultants and key users; contribute to reusable templates, documentation and pre-sales/estimation where required.
Required qualifications & experience
•
Degree in Logistics, Industrial/Business Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science or comparable — or equivalent professional experience.
•
8+ years of SAP consulting/implementation experience, with 4+ years hands-on configuring SAP JIT/JIS in automotive projects.
•
Proven delivery across the full project lifecycle (blueprint → build → test → cutover → go-live → support) in at least two JIT/JIS implementations.
•
Strong configuration depth in SD scheduling agreements/call-offs plus at least two of MM, PP, LE or WM, and how they integrate with JIT/JIS.
•
Solid EDI/IDoc experience in an automotive context (VDA / EDIFACT message standards; IDoc monitoring and error handling).
•
Direct automotive OEM or Tier-1 manufacturing background and understanding of sequenced supply (pearl chain / Perlenkette, frozen zone, line-stop economics).
•
Business-fluent German (C1+) and professional English.
Technical / SAP skill profile
Expected depth by area (configuration unless stated). No single consultant masters all peripheral modules — core JIT/JIS plus logistics integration is essential; the rest is integration awareness. Preferred / nice-to-have
•
SAP S/4HANA project experience and NJIT (Next-Generation JIT).
•
SAP EWM and/or TM alongside JIT/JIS.
•
Familiarity with OEM portals & EDI subsystems (e.g. VW LISON/LION/WEB-EDI, SEEBURGER, OpenText).
•
ITIL / application managed services background.
•
SAP certification in a relevant logistics module.
•
Additional European language.
