Location: Manati, PR Pay Rate: $27.97 Shifts: Must be available to work 12-hour shifts (5:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 5:30 PM - 5:00 AM) OT, weekends and other shift as necessary
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Packaging, Facilities, and Utilities operations by troubleshooting and resolving issues with automated, electronic, computerized systems, and programmable logic-controlled equipment in a timely manner. Take proactive, predictive, and preventive measures to ensure proper system functionality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. Comply with all Security guidelines, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) required for the position.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated and computerized systems supporting facilities, utilities, and manufacturing operations, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ladder logic programs, drives, motion systems, pneumatic and electrical components, and smart electronic devices.
Provide technical support for the installation, configuration, integration, troubleshooting, maintenance, qualification, and upgrades of new and existing computerized systems in Manufacturing and Utilities areas, including but not limited to PLCs, HMIs, DeltaV, FactoryTalk, SCADA, DCS/BAS, communication interfaces, networking, printers, report engines, databases, and MES systems.
Maintain computer-based software for automated facilities, utilities, and operational equipment, ensuring systems remain current and reliable.
Execute system backups, restores, and disaster recovery activities in accordance with established procedures.
Develop and revise maintenance plans and spare parts lists for automated equipment to support the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Write and review operational and safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for automated equipment and systems, improving procedures based on operational observations and experience.
Prepare reports and complete documentation required to comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Apply sound troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to resolve technical issues and support equipment qualification activities.
Attend all required training related to cGMP, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and company policies.
Analyze process equipment and recommend improvements using current automation technologies. Participate as a proactive team member in projects involving new integrated business applications and process automation by providing technical expertise on the use and management of technology.
Review and test software programs to ensure compliance with manufacturer-recommended hardware and software requirements for personal computers and host computer systems.
Coordinate with hardware and software vendors, when applicable, to report issues and implement approved recommendations in accordance with change management procedures.
Ensure reported system problems are resolved through appropriate corrective actions, including user retraining, SOP revisions, software updates, hardware repairs, or implementation of recommendations from information technology resources, while maintaining compliance with applicable change control procedures
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or Associate Degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Computer Science.
Three (3) years of experience in an industrial environment, including at least two (2) years of combined experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and production maintenance within a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
Preferred experience with Allen-Bradley controllers and/or Rockwell Automation platforms.
Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical process control and automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA/HMI, microcontrollers, single-loop controllers, DCS, communication interfaces, and report development.
Strong knowledge of databases and industrial networking.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical and mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical one-line diagrams.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical equipment and smart devices.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical control theory, and electronic circuitry.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills, including an understanding of instrumentation calibration processes.
Broad knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulatory guidelines applicable to biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to write and review SOPs and work instructions.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Ability to interact professionally with external vendors and customers.
Ability to plan work schedules, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and respond with a sense of urgency.
Strong customer service orientation.
Availability to work irregular hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
