Facilities Maintenance Technician Location: Hayward, CA Employment Type: Full-Time (FTE)
Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and daily operations of a large-scale manufacturing and testing environment spanning more than 1 million square feet across multiple Bay Area locations. This role is ideal for an experienced skilled trades professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and solving problems in a fast-paced production environment. The technician will respond to preventive and corrective maintenance work orders, perform facility repairs, and help ensure operational uptime across manufacturing buildings, testing facilities, and supporting infrastructure. This is not a handyman position. We are looking for someone with a strong mechanical background who can independently diagnose issues, complete repairs, and manage work orders with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance across manufacturing, office, and testing facilities.
Troubleshoot and repair building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
Respond to maintenance work orders and complete repairs independently.
Perform mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general facilities repairs.
Support multiple facilities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as needed.
Utilize ServiceNow (and future CMMS platforms) to manage work orders, document repairs, and update maintenance records.
Assist with asset maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, and equipment tracking.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
Support facility operations as manufacturing expands to multiple shifts, including potential off-shift coverage.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on experience in a skilled trade or maintenance environment.
Background in one or more of the following:
Facilities Maintenance.
Industrial Maintenance
Manufacturing Maintenance
Automotive Mechanic
Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Electrician
Carpenter
Mechanical Technician
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Comfortable using computers and learning maintenance software.
Experience working from work orders or ticketing systems.
Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience maintaining manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or production facilities.
Preventive maintenance (PM) experience.
Experience with:
HVAC systems
Electrical repairs
Plumbing
Mechanical equipment
Building systems
Experience using ServiceNow, CMMS, or other maintenance management systems.
Experience reading blueprints, drawings, or technical documentation.
Experience working in large industrial or manufacturing environments.
Required Technical Skills Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
Mechanical troubleshooting
Safe operation of hand and power tools
Ability to read a tape measure accurately
Understanding of basic fractions and measurements
Basic computer proficiency
Ability to learn new software and maintenance systems quickly
