ARY Engineering is seeking an experienced, hands-on Part-Time Bookkeeper to support day-to-day financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping activities. This role is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in Intuit QuickBooks and, more importantly, understands bookkeeping well enough to independently determine how transactions should be recorded and handled.

We are looking for someone who can assess a situation, make sound bookkeeping decisions, and take action without requiring step-by-step direction. This is not a tax advisory or senior accounting position. The focus is on accurate, timely bookkeeping and maintaining clean, reliable financial records.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using Intuit QuickBooks.
• Accurately enter, categorize, and maintain financial transactions.
• Review transactions and independently determine the appropriate bookkeeping treatment.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
• Reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies or items requiring follow-up.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation supporting financial entries and transactions.
• Identify bookkeeping issues and recommend practical solutions rather than waiting for detailed direction.
• Help improve bookkeeping processes and maintain consistency in financial recordkeeping.
• Communicate questions, discrepancies, and recommendations clearly to leadership.
• Support additional bookkeeping and financial administrative needs as they arise.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Intuit QuickBooks is required.
• Previous professional bookkeeping experience.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals and transaction categorization.
• Ability to independently determine how routine financial transactions should be recorded.
• Experience with account reconciliation and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• Good judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and proactively when an issue requires additional guidance.

You should be comfortable reviewing a transaction, understanding the situation, and determining the appropriate next step. ARY Engineering values someone who can take ownership of the bookkeeping function, recognize when something does not look right, and proactively address routine issues.

This position does not require a CPA or tax advisor. We are looking for a strong operational bookkeeper who can keep the company’s financial records accurate, organized, and up to date.
