Position Title: Scientist III - Biologics Developability
Work Location: Worcester, MA 01604
Assignment Duration: 12 Months
Position Summary:
The Biologics CMC Developability team is an integral part of the Biologics CMC Drug Product Development Org. The Biologics CMC Developability team is responsible for- the identification of biophysical- and chemical liabilities in discovery-stage biologic drug candidates to guide lead selection, and for characterization of the key CMC attributes important for biologic drug development.
 
Background & Context:
Contractor position supporting the Biologics CMC Developability team at The Organization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform in-depth LC-MS based characterization of therapeutic biologic molecules and their post-translational modifications.
  • Conduct liquid chromatography-based characterization of biologic drug candidates (size exclusion, ion exchange, and reverse phase).
  • Execute experimental protocols, collect results, and perform data analysis carefully and independently.
  • Maintain excellent documentation of work including electronic lab notebook and protocols.
  • Prepare and deliver concise scientific presentations of experimental results.
  • Oversee maintenance of key laboratory equipment and routine laboratory operations.
  • Build strong relationships with other team members and across groups.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and documentation compliance.
 
Qualifications & Experience:
  • BS or MS in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry (or equivalent, e.g., Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with 5+ (BS) or 2+ years (MS), or Ph.D. with 0+ years of biopharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with protein mass-spectrometry (subunit analysis, peptide mapping, disulfide mapping) and data processing is required.
  • Experience with liquid chromatography methods commonly used for characterization of biologic proteins is required.
  • Experience with liquid handling robots and their programming would be highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated track record of independent thinking, creativity, and scientific accomplishment.
  • Highly responsible and self-motivated. Skills to plan and conduct experiments with high quality and timely deliverables. Able to perform data analysis using MS Excel & GraphPad.
  • Team player with excellent collaboration and communication skills.
