Job Title:   Java Software Developer III
Location: Toronto, ON (4 days on site, 1 day work from home)
Duration: 1 year (Possible extension)
Business Unit: 4 - Credit Platform Canada
Start Date: ASAP, Schedule: M-F
Core business hours – 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day
 
 
Backfill Scope of Project: payment and home ownership journey – enhancement project
Team Size/Culture: 8-9 people

Main responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating closely with PO, QE lead, and BSA to understand business requirements and effectively translate them into technical requirements for the development team
• Planning and documenting comprehensive technical specifications for features or system design, ensuring a clear roadmap for development and implementation •Designing, building, and configuring applications to meet business process and application requirements, leveraging your technical expertise and problem-solving skills
• Writing testable, scalable, and efficient code.
• Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices
• Ensuring that software quality standards are met by enforcing code standards, conducting rigorous testing, and implementing continuous improvement processes
• Staying updated with the latest technologies and industry trends, continuously enhancing technical skills, and driving innovation within the development team

 
MUST-HAVE HARD SKILLS:

• 5+ years of solid full-stack experience in software development, including both frontend and backend.
• 5+ years of Java and Restful API software development experience
• 2+ years of experience within Springboot

 
SOFT SKILLS:

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to prioritize job duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Well organized, self-motivated, strong team player
• Proven analytic and problem-solving skills
• Highly organized, self-motivated, customer oriented

 
NICE-TO-HAVE

• 2+ years of software development experience in the banking industry
• Java certifications
• Agile certifications

 
CANDIDATE PROFILE DETAILS:
Degree/Level of Education: Post secondary is an asset (Computer Science is preferred)
Certifications Required: Java or Agile certifications are an asset
Years of Overall Experience: 5+ years of experience
How will performance be measured: based on delivery – hitting timelines and deliverables
Preferred/Ideal Candidate Background: Banking, financial exp. is ideal
 

• Interview process: 2 steps, Step 1: virtual with a panel Step 2: in person with a coding test on paper, both interviews will be 1 hour
